Women of the ELCA – (WELCA)
All women of the church are welcome to become active, participating members of the Holy Cross chapter of WELCA. There are a myriad of activities, service groups and projects with which WELCA is associated – – Plenty of opportunities to put your faith into action!
- Circles meet monthly for bible study and fellowship at the church: Deborah Circle (2nd Wednesday in the morning) and Ruth Circle (2nd Thursday in the afternoon)
- Lutheran World Relief (LWR): WELCA members participate in this mission of caring by preparing special LWR quilts, as well as fabric, school, baby care, and personal care kits for victims of disasters, poverty, and disease throughout the world.
- Service Groups & Projects: (further elaboration can be found on the Faith in Action page)
- Altar Guild is responsible for maintaining the altar and all aspects of the Nave, for preparing the proper paraments and communion supplies and vessels. Generally, two people are responsible for each service.
- Bereavement group helps to coordinate refreshments for bereaved families of the congregation and friends following memorial services.
- Christmas Gifts delivered to homebound, elderly and others
- Greeting Card program (in coordination with St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital) This program consists of saving the 1st page of holiday or greeting cards, and then mailing them to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital
- Hospitality House program collects extra calendars, greeting cards, note pads and magazines for the patients and their families who are staying at Hospitality House in the Texas Medical Center.
- Lutheran World Relief Quilting group meets on the 4th Thursday at 9:30 a.m.

- Krause Children’s Center & Westside Homeless Partnership Giving Tree/Basket
WELCA Meeting Schedule
Board Meetings: 1st Saturday of each month at 10:00 a.m. (All are welcome to attend.)
