Gethsemane
Lutheran Church Ashes to Go!
This year,
Gethsemane Lutheran Church (2825 Paris Rd., Chalmette) is taking
Ash Wednesday to the streets! We are having ASHES TO GO, a
drive thru (or walk up as the case may be) for people to receive
ashes and communion on Ash Wednesday, March 5 from 11am to 6pm!
We’re offering ashes on the street corner today because that
reminder of need, humility, and healing shouldn’t be confined to a
church building. We probably need it more when we are in the middle
of our daily business! The ashes we receive here are to remind us
throughout the day of our need for God, and of God’s call to us.
There is much more to the beginning of Lent than ashes alone, and
we encourage you to make time for worship with a community of
faith, for the support of others and of the great traditions of
faith in our work of repentance and renewal. But God meets us not
just in worship, but in the midst of life, and we offer the
opportunity to remember our faith to those whose schedules make it
hard to stop and pray with others today.
Come and receive ashes and communion! ALL are welcome! For
more information, please call 504-271-4254 or email gethsemaneinchalmette@gmail.com.

LAST
CALL for LSM 2025!
Enrollment
for this summer is over 80% full, but there’s still time for young
musicians to apply, and for you to nominate students. Lutheran Summer
Music is the nation’s premier faith-based music academy for high
school musicians. Students come together from around the country
for a joyful summer of music-making through large ensembles (band,
choir, orchestra), chamber music, private lessons, elective classes
(conducting, composition, jazz, musical theatre, handbells, pipe
organ) and use their musical gifts in performance, and in worship.
